The switch itself has a front silver button to select HDMI source from the 3 inputs with a blue LED indicator showing which is selected, the remote control can also be used for this function. The remote uses a button sized battery which is included and just needs the plastic tab pulling out of the side to work first time. The unit is indeed a nice compact shape and the build quality looks and feels very good.
This device offers full remote, no need for power source (but recommended), compact size, plug & play and easy set up amongst other things. The HDMI switch comes well presented and in the box you get the following: The HDMI switch has solved that problem and I can easily switch between device HDMI outputs at a press of the remote control. I needed a switch for the home office as I have a desktop and laptop which shares one monitor and it can be annoying when I need the laptop screen on the bigger monitor as I have to constantly keep pulling HDMI cables out the back of the monitor because it only has one HDMI port.
